Change the world

18/04/2017

There will be various practical implications to consider as we move from NMMU to Nelson Mandela University with the official launch later this year.

While the switch from NMMU to Nelson Mandela University in terms of a new look will only happen from the day of launch, please take note of the following:

Stationery

If your present stationery requirements have been depleted, only order what may be necessary up until mid-year. And if you still have stock carrying the NMMU branding after the launch, please continue to use it until depleted. The University is mindful of its financial sustainability and has this at the forefront of all decisions as it makes the transition from NMMU to Nelson Mandela University.

Clothing

Similarly, please feel free to continue to use NMMU branded clothing after the official launch until you outgrow or outwear these items. A new range of branded Nelson Mandela University corporate, sports and leisure wear will be phased in after the launch.

Signage

Initially, only key signage, such as campus entrances and the main building, will be changed to reflect the new brand as part of the official launch. Expenditure on any new signage will come out of the normal maintenance budget. In many instances, the present signage will also be recycled to keep costs down. The introduction of the new branding will also be phased in over several years.

Digital media

The University’s domain name will change, and subsequently so will the name of its social media sites. This information will be shared in greater detail at a later stage. Suffice to say, however, that your present email addresses will continue to function long after the name change.

Values

NMMU’s values – respect for the natural environment, respect for diversity, integrity, excellence, Ubuntu and taking responsibility – that undergird all that we do, will remain in place as we make the transition.
